There I was thinking that Fat Gordy was making a principled stand. General election held, Labour party commands compelling majority in house of commons, labour forms government, labour parliamentary leader assumes role of prime minister, labour party required to replace parliamentary leader, new leader slips into vacated role of prime minister, parliamentary term served out, by those elected.
General election required when party of government changes leader. Not necessarily.
But Fat Gordy's gone to the meeja and blathered on to the effect that he didn't call an early election so that all those potential labour voters out there can have more time to look on his mighty works and Dave's crowd can grown in their despair. Unfortunately, in his attempt to justify holding off calling the next General Election he's only gone and set out the perfect justification for calling one - for the first time in this context.
For it seems to me the not calling an election lark only works (morally) as long as it is a case of government business as usual. But if Fat Gordy's seriously setting his face against that which preceede then the sooner he calls an election the better.
Not that I'll bother voting. We've got a Conservative Association in the high street and come the general election one or two windows will sprout Vote Labour posters. That's the balance of power in this part of the country.
Just add slake lime, then cook for a long as possible
